Cryoblast Extreme 4gr

Ref.: THM-04EEAN: 3700755620566

Cryoblast Extreme replaces the factory paste between the processor and its heatsink, where heat transfer happens. Thermal conductivity of 14.8 W/m·K, impedance below 0.095 °C·in²/W, rated from -50 to 280 °C. Electrically insulating, it won't short out whatever it touches. 4 g syringe, application spatula and cleaning cloth included.

Two flat surfaces never really touch

Even when machined flat, a processor heat spreader and a cooler base meet at only a few points. Between the two, air remains, and air insulates. Cryoblast Extreme fills those gaps and restores the path for heat. 4 g syringe, grey paste, spatula and cloth supplied.

Two figures, and the one that matters most

Conductivity describes the material; impedance describes the joint.

The thermal conductivity of Cryoblast Extreme is 14.8 W/m·K. It is a property of the bulk material, measured in a laboratory, and no test standard is followed by every manufacturer: this figure cannot be compared from one brand to another.

Thethermal impedance, on the other hand, describes the resistance of the actual joint, at a given thickness and pressure. It stays below 0.095 °C·in²/W. It is the figure that laboratories rely on, and the one that matches what happens between your two surfaces.

The rest of the spec sheet comes down to three numbers: a density of 2.8 g/ml, a viscosity of 95,000 mPa·s, and a mass loss below 0.5 % after twenty-four hours at 200 °C — in other words, the paste does not lose its oils.

Applying it, in four steps

The same steps for an air cooler and for a liquid cooler. Count on the supplied spatula and cloth: at 95,000 mPa·s, the paste is dense, and it spreads by hand rather than under the pressure of the cooler.

  1. Clean both surfaces

Remove all the old paste, from the processor heat spreader and from the cooler base alike, with isopropyl alcohol. That is what the supplied cloth is for.

  2. Apply the paste

A pea in the centre of the heat spreader. The syringe reseals and keeps for the next builds.

  3. Spread with the spatula

In a thin, even layer, right to the edges of the heat spreader. A thick layer does not cool better: it adds material for the heat to cross.

  4. Fit the cooler

Set it down without sliding, then tighten the fixings crosswise and in small passes, so the pressure evens out and no air bubble stays trapped.

An insulator, so harmless to what it touches

Its breakdown voltage exceeds 5 kV/mm: Cryoblast Extreme does not conduct current. A spill onto the socket or a neighbouring component does not create a short circuit — it is still better to wipe it off. That is the difference with a liquid metal, which conducts electricity and attacks aluminium.

Frequently asked questions

How often should thermal paste be changed?

It depends on the paste, on the average processor temperature and on case airflow. Common practice is two to three years for an entry-level paste, three to five years for a high-performance paste, and an earlier replacement for factory-applied paste.

Is it suitable for a graphics card?

Yes. A graphics processor is prepared like a central processor, and the same syringe serves both.

Does the old paste have to be removed?

Completely, and on both surfaces, with isopropyl alcohol. A new layer applied over the old one adds thickness for the heat to cross. The supplied cloth is intended for this cleaning.

What's in the box?

A 4 g syringe, an application spatula and a cleaning cloth.
