Cologne, late August. An M.RED in iiyama's spotlight

The world's largest video game show welcomed 368,000 visitors this year. On the stand of iiyama, a Japanese monitor manufacturer founded in 1972, one machine stood out: an M.RED case dressed from head to toe in the colours of the brand's latest release.

It was built in France, in Bordeaux, by Cybertek. Here's what's inside, and why it looks like that.

Titan Falcon: iiyama's first OLED

G-Master GOB2701QSC-B1 Titan Falcon : this is iiyama's first OLED gaming monitor. Twenty-seven inches, WQHD, LG Display Meta 3.0 panel, 280 Hz, 0.03 ms, DisplayHDR True Black 400 certified and NVIDIA G-Sync compatible. The kind of product a brand only launches once.

The remaining challenge: getting it noticed in a 233,000 square metre hall. Hence the idea: take a case big enough to serve as a poster, and give it the Titan Falcon livery — chevrons, ideograms, and the red-visored character running the full height of the side panel.

What's inside

Three M.RED parts from the catalogue, and components chosen to fit together: at this power level, every measurement counts — the length of the graphics card, the space for the radiator, the depth of the power supply.

  • Phantom Z case

Mid tower with tempered glass, 52 litres. It takes a 410 mm graphics card and a 360 mm radiator on top: the two constraints of this build.

  • Ryzen 7 7700X3D and B850 motherboard

Eight Zen 4 cores, 96 MB of L3 cache stacked under the hood, 120 W announced. AM5 socket, on a B850 motherboard in ATX format.

  • GeForce RTX 5090

The top of the Blackwell range: 32 GB of GDDR7, and 575 W announced by NVIDIA. That figure is what decides the power supply.

  • Onyx 360 liquid cooler

397 mm aluminium radiator, three 120 mm ARGB fans between 800 and 1,800 rpm, pump rated at 23 dB(A) maximum.

  • MRR-1300AP power supply

1,300 W, 80 PLUS Platinum certified, fully modular, ATX 3.1 standard and PCIe 5.1 connector. Ten-year warranty.

  • Built and dressed in France

Assembly and wrapping by Cybertek, in Bordeaux. The PC says so itself, on a plaque set in front of it.

Three details that matter

Three fans, behind the front panel

The 360 mm radiator is mounted on top — the only position the case allows for that size. Its three fans are visible through the glass front panel, which runs the full height: the Phantom Z has glass only there and on the left side, and that's enough to show everything.

Bordeaux, 50,000 PCs a year

Cybertek turns thirty this year. Two students opened a shop in Talence in 1996; the chain now has 250 employees, 28 stores under the Cybertek and Grosbill names, and a factory in Bordeaux Nord turning out around 50,000 PCs a year.

And the artwork?

Three techniques, and three different surfaces. The solid panels are painted using UV printing — the ink is set with light, directly onto the metal. The glass panels are laser engraved : the pattern is in the glass, not laid on top of it, and transparency is fully preserved. Finally, interior modding dresses what you see through it, cables and plates included.
