Labo Fnac: the M.RED CBT031-03 PC, a seriously muscular gaming tower

Published on October 4, 2025 · 2 min read

Ryzen 7 9800X3D and GeForce RTX 5080: the AMD twin of the CBT030-03 also earns five stars at the Labo Fnac, with three perfect scores for performance, gaming and web applications.

The 9800X3D in charge

A processor built for gaming, paired with the RTX 5080.

The CBT031-03 takes over the CBT030-03's tower — same case with its V-shaped front, same RTX 5080, same 1,050 W M.RED power supply — and switches sides on the processor: an AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D, eight cores and sixteen threads up to 5.2 GHz, with the 96 MB of L3 cache of 3D V-Cache technology.

It sits on an ATX motherboard with an X870 chipset, with Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4, and 32 GB of DDR5-5600. Two terabytes of NVMe SSD round things off.

Intel or AMD: two twins, two characters

The Lab gave both towers five stars, but their report cards don’t match up. Where the CBT030-03 topped out at 8,2 in gaming and 8,3 in performance, the CBT031-03 takes 10 and 10 : that’s the signature of AMD’s 3D cache, which works wonders in games.

  • CBT030-03 — Intel Core Ultra 7 265K, twenty cores: more at ease in image editing (9 vs 7) and office work (9,5 vs 8,5).

  • CBT031-03 — AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D, eight cores and 96 MB of cache: the best in gaming and raw performance.

So the choice comes down to use: gaming first, the CBT031-03; creation as much as gaming, the CBT030-03.
